Jun 15, 2009 When I open any game that used to be full screen in Steam, such as all Half Life games, Crysis, etc, they aren't full screen. The game shows up in the center of the screen surrounded by a large black border that takes up the rest of the screen. The window's bar at the bottom is gone and so is everything else so it is as if the game is full screen, but it's only in the center of the screen.

- edited March 2013Yep. I tried turning widescreen on and changing the resolution but neither fixed it and the game still runs in windowed mode
- edited March 2013Maybe the screen and the game's resolution don't match. I assume you run the game and the screen is the same maximum resolution?
- Senior MemberRegistered UsersPosts: 409I also have this problem, I think the resolution of your desktop needs to be lower 800*600? I havent yet tried it.
- edited April 2013My desktop resolution and game resolutions are the same, 1920x1080 and the game runs normally without the windowed mode.
- edited April 2013Sorry of taking so long to reply.
Anyway, I run Shogun 2 just fine and its 1366x768 or something in the 700s. I adjusted Medieval 2 to that and it still didn't change
anything. I've tried a bunch of different resolutions in the video options an nothing has happened yet. - edited January 2015I'm having this problem. I just bought this game because a Steam RP Tier needed me to get it, however of course it doesn't work. I've tried everything but mostly what I come up with is people saying how to run Kingdoms in Windowed mode far from what I want.

You just need to go to C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonMedieval II Total War and then click to
medieval2.preference.cfg and add
windowed=0
at the end after this the game runs normaly
